Please excuse that I said on Instagram that this post would be up a few days ago. I have been living out of a suitcase and have had very questionable internet for days now. I am really looking forward to getting to London and having some normalcy.
When I was handed my landing card on my flight to Shanghai and the card referred to me as an Alien I found that both amusing but slightly curios as to what it would be like there for a foreigner.
As I left the airport and boarded a bullet magnet train called the Maglev and then got ripped off by like 10x the price on my taxi I had mixed feelings. When I tried to say I thought the price was too high he just started screaming at me but it was kind of funny so I just paid and let it go.
The hotel was beautiful. The people were so friendly and seemed even more annoyed then me about my taxi debacle.
I was invited to Shanghai to take part in a Skateboarding demo at a Technology show called YOMO Shanghai.
I had a bit of spare time to explore whilst I was there and I got to see some of this huge city . Considering I was only there for one week I also managed to buy a LOT of clothes.
There are loads of really cool Korean style boutiques in Shanghai and a lot of really nice accessories probably the best I have ever seen. I remembered Tokyo for its awesome socks and I will be remembering Shanghai for its Shoes and its accessories.
Shanghai was quite dark and there was a lot of smog there but it had a relaxed vibe, it was a mix between feeling like you were in an exotic humid holiday destination and a futuristic metropolis. There was street food and people dancing in the square on one corner and then turn around and you are at a swanky new york style rooftop bar or a vast shopping centre full of designer boutiques.
To say Shanghai has the best of everything is an understatement. The city has something for everyone. I am going back in a matter of months I cannot get enough of this place.
Here is my visit in pictures
